Stefan Richter, a finalist on season 5 of Top Chef, has turned an old office courtyard in Santa Monica into a restaurant where the decor reflects the food exactly: comfortable and classic but with a creative and delightful twist. With an enclosed patio space, modern sleek fire pits around leather booths, vines covering the walls, and a blend of classic tunes from the 70’s, 80’s, and present, the atmosphere is welcoming with just the right amount of a modern touch. Being a finalist on Top Chef, everything on the menu is innovative, delicious, and definitely worth trying, which is why we’re sure to be frequent visitors.
While everything looks amazing, we love the spicy tuna tartare with the spicy thai dressing (it’s less spicy than it sounds,) and the crispy scallops in pumpkin seed oil with a sweet corn puree is simply mouthwatering. If you’re not a seafood lover, don’t worry: there are all sorts of American classics, including mini corndogs, turkey burgers, acorn squash ravioli, and sausage risotto. The open fire pits are perfect for lounging, enjoying a cocktail, and most importantly— getting your s’more on! How rustic chic is that?!
