All White Everything

white1It’s not what kind of white you wear that matters, it’s how you wear it.

That “no white after labor day” proverb has never been less relevant than it will be in Spring 2015, when all white ensembles will roam the street style catwalk like chic predators. I’ve heard various rules for wearing all white over the years, none of which are worth repeating.

The designers at Issey Miyake and Christian Dior certainly weren’t paying heed to proverbs when they send models out in all white ensembles that involved mixed textures, heavy layering, geometric cuts, and combining various shades of the seemingly stark hue for a staggering deep palate.

White is often thought of as a “light” shade, but Spring 2015 will bring all white outfits of super sturdy fabric and heavy construction.

Fellow fans of the all white trend include Phillip Lim, Thakoon, Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Rucci, Prabal Gurung, Victoria Beckham and BCBG Max Azria, who all showed head to toe white looks for the Spring/Summer 2015 Season in New York and Paris.

Weekly Pull: Dynamic Denim

top

Denim is a classic staple piece that’s been a vital part of any American’s life since the gold rush send our forefathers en route to Manifest Destiny and ultimately La La Land.

While we’re always down to play with the cutting edge in denim trends, the classic silhouette, form fitting yet forgiving cut, and wonderfully comfortable combination of materials make SUPERFINE jeans our eternal go to favorite.

Trends, like men, come and go with the Season, but a fabulous pair of booty lifting jeans will love your body until the world ends. Or you just HAVE to get another pair.

Here’s a couple classy yet comfy takes on designer denim to carry you into Fall’s brisk embrace with panache.

1. Laid Back Lace

Single Cream Lace & Mesh Top & Superfine Black Leggings Jeans

A skinny legged dark denim makes any outfit look more sophisticated. Paired with a lacy top and you have a perfect outfit that could transform from lunch date to dinner date without even trying.

2. Ravishing in Red

Single Dove Grey Flip Front Tank Top, Superfine Ruby Legging Jeans

Everything’s more fun with color. And the color of the upcoming holiday season is red! It reminds us of red mistletoe and warm nights at home by the fire. Pair these outgoing pants with a plain top and a statement necklace to complete your look.

Weekly Pull: Long, Light & Lovely

Staying sleek, not sweaty, doesn’t require baring all your body. For this week’s pull, we were inspired to show off these breezy and beautiful floor length pieces: a royal blue jumpsuit, white lace maxi-dress, and printed silk one piece.

GET THE LOOK: LACY SUNDAY

coachella-fashion-2014

Is there anything better than a lace dress?  Lace is so versatile.  It can be classic (a la Audrey Hepburn), rocker-chic (like Stevie Nicks), bohemian, sexy…the list goes on.  Our favorite lace piece at the moment is our floor-sweeping sheer lace gown.  Completely see-through, the dress features a high neckline and long sleeves for the perfect mix of sexy and sweet.

The best thing about this dress?  You can layer whatever you want underneath!  Stylist Jessica went with a plain black slip, but there are countless ways to mix it up.  For a racy look, layer a nude slip underneath.  Rocker?  Try a black slip with a leather jacket on top.  Boho girls might want to try a tank and cutoffs, and those who want to try out the high-fashion look should reach for black high-waisted booty shorts and a corset-like bra.

We’re picturing this piece at Coachella, layered over a little bikini top and shorts!  Add a cross-body bag over top, and the look is festival ready.

How would you wear this piece?  If you want to grab it for yourself, it’s $510 at stylehaus (323-655-5900 to order).

THROWBACK THURSDAY: AUDREY HEPBURN IN “HOW TO STEAL A MILLION”

audrey-hepburn-little-black-dress

Is there any fashionista more iconic than Audrey Hepburn?  We think not.  High-fashion ladies love her for her elegance and simplicity, and those who aren’t fashion-minded are Audrey fans for the same reason!  Her “little black dress” style is universal;  we’re constantly inspired by her.

In one of our favorite Audrey movies, How To Steal A Million, she plays the daughter of a renowned art collector who’s been forging famous art works and selling them off as originals.  After discovering her father’s criminal activity, Audrey’s character Nicole becomes part of an elaborate scheme to protect her father’s name, and falls in love along the way.  Her best look is undoubtedly her fancy LBD- a lacy number paired with lace tights and a lace mask.  So gorge!

After watching How To Steal A Million for the millionth time, stylist Jessica discovered how similar our lace tiered dress is to Audrey’s!  The long sleeves and poufy skirt are spot-on, although the lace pattern on stylehaus’ version is a bit more modern.

If you want to get in on Audrey’s iconic style, this dress is perfect piece!  Not only is it gorgeous, it’s also half-off.  Originally $1300, this baby has been discounted to $650!  We’re considering it for Valentine’s Day…what about you?  E-mail Jessica@stylehaus.com for purchasing details!

From skirts, to tops, shoes, purses, and even ball gowns, lace has taken over the spring runways! Typically associated with neutral colors such as black, cream, or tan, lace has ventured into other hues and is making a statement that we’re very excited about. The runways this year featured lace worn in all different ways and all different colors, and we love Oscar de la Renta’s girly-couture take on mixing this pastel pink lace with a bold turquoise pattern and embellished belt to tie the look together. Lace adds a feminine, girly edge to your look and is easy to style with jeans, leather, and even cashmere. Incorporate lace into your style for spring and add a dainty element into your look!

Featuring lace collars, long floral dresses, and scalloped details, the Valentino F/W Fall ’13 show featured beautiful and intricate creations that highlighted a chic and playful spin on ultra-feminine clothing. There is no question that these clothes are exquisitely made, and just a couple of steps short of Haute Couture and Valentino went for a much more frilly look than in years past. With lace collars and cuffs, the collection will be sought after come fall, and the looks are very versatile for a multitude of occasions. Combining cashmere and lace gave off a delicate and lady-like image, while the leather dresses and unexpected pops of color jazzed things up. The oriental-inspired floral patterns on both the long and shorter dresses were an unexpected delight, and overall there were plenty of gowns that we expect to be gracing the red carpet in the fall!
