IT FACTOR FRIDAY: BUTTERFLIES

Valentino Spring 2014 Couture

If the designers at Valentino have anything to do with it, butterflies will be a huge trend for Spring and Fall.  Valentino’s runways were positively fluttering with butterfly wings for Spring 2014 Couture and Fall 2014!  However they involved the winged creatures- prints, 3D appliqués, or embroidered patches- the design duo behind Valentino made sure that there was no mistaking what would be the next big trend.  Here at stylehaus, our hears are aflutter for this look!

Valentino Fall 2014

While, of course, Valentino’s runway creations are a little too precious for real life, there is a way to incorporate the pretty little things into an outfit without coming off princess-y.  Our butterfly printed tank is just the thing!  In a classic palate of black and white, butterflies actually look pretty badass.

We love this tank worn with our white leather jacket, which is actually lined with butterfly-printed fabric!  If you want to try the trend, either of these pieces will satisfy your craving. Get them at stylehaus- 323-655-5900 to order.

Are you into this look?  How will you wear it?

Marina Monroe & Olga Valentina do NYFW- Clover Canyon F/W’13

Los Angeles was most definitely represented at New York Fashion Week with Clover Canyon’s Fall/Winter 2013 Runway show, which featured amazing neoprene prints, bold graphics, and outstanding patterns. Clover Canyon’s latest inspiration was tribute to the beauty of Russia, recognizing the graphic work of abstract Russian artist Kazimir Malevich and the Russian Ballet. Models mastered ballerina poses (in crystal ballet shoes!) while sporting the DTLA-based label’s prints in a colorful array of eclectic ready-to-wear dresses, tops, trousers, and shirts. Since I am a print fanatic, Clover Canyon was a must-see for me, and combined my loves of L.A., Russia, prints, and of course, couture fashion! The show was incredible and I am already anticipating the fall collection to make its way into my wardrobe; a girl can never have too many prints, and their signature neoprene dresses and skirts are perfect for an easy day-to-night transition. I love their patterned trousers also, as they are the perfect fall pant paired with booties and a leather jacket.

The Jeremy Scott NYFW 2013 show was quite an experience to say the least! The show featured a bold and punk-inspired Fall/Winter 2013 collection featuring graphic knitwear, psychedelic prints, anarchy symbols, eccentric looks, fur cropped tops, and much more. As these shows are as renowned for their spectacle as they are for their pop-culture-inspired clothes, the energy in the room was exhilarating and fun, and we had a great time! For Fall 2013, Scott was “just trying to make a teenage boy’s bedroom fantasy of monsters come true and having those kinds of posters come to life as some sort of fantasy woman,” he explained backstage after his show, and this was dream came to reality on stage as we experienced head-to-toe furry ensembles, monster-inspired sweaters, and plenty of skeleton prints. Olga and I got into the spirit of the show as we rocked our own graphic and edgy looks, and I am obsessed with my new mouse hat! You never know what you’re going to get at a Jeremy Scott show, but we know it’s going to be plenty of fun!

One word to describe Mara Hoffman’s fall 2013 line from New York Fashion Week: eclectic. Known for her exotic, playful prints and fun pops of color, Mara Hoffman always delivers an eccentric and unique fashion show. We loved her looks from spring 2013 so much and we were expecting nothing short of fabulous for her fall collection. As tribal prints were a huge trend for spring, Mara Hoffman shows us that we can be playful and adventurous by incorporating bright, bold prints into our looks for fall as well. Mara unveiled intricate, symmetrical prints and embellishments in her collection with colorful frocks, cropped jackets, shift dresses, and elegantly edgy evening gowns. The patterns were truly memorable, and each look was more inspirational than the next. Models were accessorized with amazing suede and leather detailed shoes, Pamela Love armor rings, and dramatic earring chains draped from ear-to-ear. Prints are here to stay; summer hasn’t even arrived yet, but after seeing these dazzling and exotic patterns, we are already so excited to wear these fall fashions!

Wearing vertical black and white stripes this season will not only keep you right on trend, but elongate and flatter your figure! The vertical lines create length and will instantly make you look taller and thinner! We spotted this bold print on the spring/summer 2013 runways and we loved how each designer took their own spin off of this traditional print. Dolce & Gabbana’s vertical striped pieces evoked a more nautical and preppy feel, perfect for those lazy days on the boat or relaxing on the beaches. Other designers such as Balmain and Marc Jacobs created an edgy, more downtown vibe with their stripes for the girls with more of a rocker edge.

We styled our black and white striped maxi dress with a deep-olive green leather and suede jacket, black booties and diamond layered necklaces. This is an ideal look for Sunday brunch or shopping with the girls!
